„Svet je krásne miesto a stojí za to v ňom žiť," povedal americký spisovateľ Ernest Hemingway. Ak je svet krásne miesto, pre nás je Slovensko to pravé miesto na život. Ľudia, ktorí vyznávajú dobrodružstvo poznávania, nájdu v našej krajine dostatok inšpirácií.

Na Slovensku pri Kremnických Baniach leží geografický stred Európy. Možno povedať, že je to srdce Európy. Naša republika je ako kraji­na vzácna práve preto, lebo každému pozorovateľovi ponúka malé zázraky. Dostali sme do daru nádhernú divú prírodu, pralesy aj úchvatné hole, kadiaľ sa ľudia môžu túlať. Dokázali sme však cez storočia zachovať aj unikátne budovy a stavby spišskej gotiky či renesančnej a ba­rokovej architektúry tak, že ladia s výdobytkami modernej doby. Je až prekvapujúce, koľko zachovaných a dobre udržiavaných technických pamiatok zo stredoveku sa nájde v slovenských mestách a dedinách.

Tieto čarovné hodnoty vám chceme sprostredkovať v tejto knihe ako sprievodcovia po našej krásnej vlasti. Slovensko leží v srdci Európy, preto Európa robí dobre, ak spoznáva, ako bije jej srdce.

In der Slowakei liegt bei Kremnické Bane der geographische Mittelpunkt Europas. Man könnte sagen, es ist das Herz Europas. Unser Land ist wertvoll, denn es bietet jedem Betrachter kleine Wunder. Uns wurden eine wundervolle, wilde Natur, Urwälder sowie traumhafte Bergwiesen geschenkt, über die Menschen wandern können. Es ist uns aber auch gelungen einmalige Gebäude und Bauwerke der Zipser Gotik, der Renaissance- und Barockarchitektur über Jahrhunderte zu bewahren und zwar so, dass sie mit den Errungenschaften der mo­dernen Zeit im Einklang sind. Es ist überwältigend, wie viele erhaltene und gut gepflegte technische Denkmäler man aus dem Mittelalter in slowakischen Städten und Dörfern findet.

Diese zauberhaften Güter wollen wir Ihnen in diesem Buch als Führer durch unsere schöne Heimat vermitteln. Die Slowakei liegt im Herzen Europas, deshalb tut Europa gut daran zu lernen, wie dieses Herz schlägt.

Alors, „si le monde est un beau lieu", nous les Slovaques, nous pouvons dire que „la Slovaquie est le lieu idéal pour vivre". Il y a fort à parier que notre pays a également de quoi combler le voyageur le plus avide de découvertes.

En Slovaquie près de Kremnické Bane se trouve le centre géographique de l' Europe. On peut dire que c' est le cœur de l' Europe. Nous avons su au cours des siècles, conserver des bâtiments de facture unique, les constructions de la ville gothique de Spiš ou de l' architecture de styles Renaissance et baroque de telle façon qu' ils puissent rester en harmonie avec des progrès de l' époque moderne. On est surpris du nombre de travaux d' ingénierie du Moyen-Âge  conservés et entretenus que l' on trouve dans les villes et villages slovaques.
